It all depends on how many children you have how how many you work if you work.
I dont live in this area but its the same for all areas.
I rent my house have 1 child and the council help me out with £198 of my £510 rent

each council has their own amount that they pay which is fixed every month called Local Housing Allowance. u can google this and find out for any particular council. the amount that u get is not dependent on the property u have but the size and age of yr family and whether u or anyone in the family is working or on benefits. if the amount ur entitled to is more than yr rent u will only get yr rent plus £15 . also the amount u can get is now capped at a 5 bed property. u can calculate what property ur entitled to on yr local councils housing website. generally each person over 16 is entitled to their own room and children younger than that of the same sex can share.

Not sure about Kent (just phone the HB department and they can tell you what they will pay up to)
