What is the maximum amount of money that can be withdrawn a bank w/out prior notice?
I want to pull $3,500 out of the bank to buy a bike but, I want to make sure that I don’t have to ask them in advance due to not getting off work until 6 and the banks are closed. Can anyone tell me? Also, I bank with Bank Of America if that helps.

$3,500 is not a lot of money. If you were talking about $20,000, THEN you would have a legit question. BofA is a big enough bank to handle that small of a withdrawal…trust me.

At most banks, the maximum amount you can withdraw is the entire balance in your account. Some smaller banks may not allow it. Call your bank and ask.
From a safety perspective, write a check for the purchase. Or ask the bank for a cashier’s check if the person you are buying from won’t take checks. That way you don’t have all that much cash on your person.

There is a maximum ATM withdrawal amount to protect account holders and the bank in case an ATM card is stolen. Where I am it’s $300 per day, but I don’t know if it’s same everywhere. If you need to withdraw more than that amount, contact your bank. They may be able to suggest another alternative that doesn’t involve visiting the branch during business hours. Also, check the branch hours to see when they open and if any are open after 6 on a specific day. It may be easier to just get up early one day.
