What details do I need for a bank to trace a payment by cheque made into my account?
A customer says she has paid but I cannot find an amount that matches on my statement. I want to ask her to consult her bank as to when the cheque was cashed.

Tell her to get the back of her check. It will show the date and account number it was deposited into. Also ask for a copy of her bank statement where it cleared. This will help if the date isn’t clear.
