How do we find a good accountant to do our taxes?
My husband and I got married last year and will be filing our taxes jointly this year. My parents have always had their accountant do my taxes and my husband has done his own the last few years. This year we’d like to go to an accountant, but how do we go about finding a good one? I’ve searched yellow pages and there’s a lot listed, so how do we know which ones are good? Or are they all pretty much the same?

Unless you have complex tax issues, there is no benefit in using an accountant. You’re going to pay a lot for those services. TurtboTax Deluxe can do it fine for 95% of people.

I agree with the previous poster. My husband and I did not use Turbo Tax when we first got married and actually got back less than what we have in the years since we have been using Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax is very comprehensive wherein it ask all of the questions that an accountant would ask. Also, at the end, it reviews items that may trigger an audit just to verify you are aware of your entries. Additonally, support is offered throughout the process, not only by other users, but also by tax professionals.
