Is there a specific and safe way to clean a grubby credit card without the risk of wiping the information off it?

You could try warm soapy water but definitely nothing abrasive.last but not least ask the bank for a new one.

Wipe it with methylated spirits on a cotton wool pad. It gets the grease off. DO NOT rub it with anything abrasive.
