Cheapest way to transfer money internationally to a different bank account?
I am leaving Ireland and heading back to the USA and was wondering what is the cheapest way to transfer the money from the closed Irish bank account into one of my US bank accounts. Do I withdraw the money in US $ from the Irish bank when I close the account and just take it with me on the plane? Do I set up a wire transfer? Traveler’s check?
Basically, I want to minimize the foreign exchange cost and banking fee cost as much as possible. Thanks.

You should compare the exchange rates at your Irish bank and American bank and do the same on their service fees.
The easiest way is to wire the funds but there will be fees at sending and receiving banks so find out what they are first.
The next best thing (and often less expensive) is getting an international draft/money order. The service fees are usually less expensive and you only have to worry about exchange.
I don’t recommend bringing cash on your flight if it is a large amount but it is probably the cheapest option.
