What is the bank reporting system, how do I contact them?

I went to add a savings account to my checking and the bank told me that I had a red flag with another bank, they found the red flag when checking some sort of national bank registry. They gave me the number to call and figure it out, but I lost it and my bank’s offices are closed for a week for renovations. I don’t want to drive an hour to the other branch. Just wondering if anyone knows the name of this check and how I would get a hold of them.

    There are several:

    Chex Systems–1-800-428-9623
    TeleCheck–1-800-366-2425

These are the main ones. They should be able to help you by letting you know which bank set up the account, but you will have to contact that bank to be removed from the database.

It’s probably the “chex” system. Financial institutions use it to keep an eye out for people who ‘bank and dash’ from one bank to the next.
