How much should I get paid to work during a bank holiday weekend?
I am an office administrator in central london, paid £6 per hour. During this weekend we are opening our business and I was asked to work as a hostess and a company representative at the same time. I was wandering if I can ask my boss to pay me double during that time because:
1.He underpays me anyway
2.I work part time and this weekend would be full time.
3.It’a a bank holiday weekend!
4.My role would be different to the current one (from an office clerk to a hostess!!!)
Is that a fair amount I am asking for or is it too much? I don’t really care to work there for £6and rather stayed home or go out clubbing.

You should have asked what the pay is before accepting. Get a contract for this part of your job. If you been there less than a year, you ain’t got many rights.

£6 an hour seems pretty low for central London! I’d ask him for a pay rise anyway.
Most decent companies pay double time (£12 an hour at your rates) for work at weekends and Bank Holidays, unless they constitute part of your original contract.
If he says no, then you should say no to him!

Well I think the minimum is double your hourly rate.

i woudnt work for 6 quid on a bank holiday weekend ask what he will pay you u should be on double pay rate

The normal rate is double time. Some firms give double time and a day’s holiday. My firm gives triple time but no days holiday. you should ask for double time
